My Oppo Fleet Score

After digesting !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I came up with the following scores for my little fleet. Two of them actually tied in points while being vastly different in form and function.

A lowly 51 points for my trusty Swede Steed. Despite being a manual, the score was dragged down heavily by being a transverse mounted, FWD 4-door with a sunroof.

The truck pulled down a respectable 137 points! Ticked a lot of boxes.

The latest addition to the fleet also scored 137 points, but for somewhat different reasons.

I personally think the Volvo is the most Oppo of the three, despite a much lower score. I haven’t calculated scores for my 2 wheeled fleet yet.

Volvo and truck are similarly oppo in different ways, the mustang would be if it was salvage title and had lots of problems under the surface

Well, the engine on the Volvo may not be that exciting but in my book it’s + points for a sunroof and not - points!

Being by far the newest car I’ve ever owned at time of purchase, it’s a strange feeling to drive a car with no mechanical problems out of the gate.

T he truck does seem to resonate well among the audience here, and I do post about it more often than the Volvo. The old S70 is practically invisible in traffic and parking lots to most. I think that’s its greatest asset: It’s nice enough and quiet enough to drive in a funeral procession or to a fancy restaurant, but old and crappy enough to street-park in downtown Philadelphia without worrying about it. Competent for all occasions.

I would never do a V8 swap in that car. If money was no object and I needed to put a different engine in, I’d probably opt for a B6304S inline 6 out of a contemporary S80.

Hello fellow Volvoppo! My automatic 850, basically your car but in green and with an auto, garnered 46 points.

The trick to a better Oppo score is to g et an older, shittier Volvo. My 1987 245 wagon with a stick and tons of jank scored 165!

I think I did this right.

C63: 129

4Runner: 63

W124 wagon: 127

Seems about right, although I think the RHD headlights (on an LHD car) on my Japan-market W124 ought to be worth, say, 2 points, making it even with the C63.
